Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
This page explains how WaterIntakeCalculator.com uses cookies and similar browser storage (localStorage, sessionStorage) to run the site and, with your permission, to understand how people use our calculators.
You can change your choice any time.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. We also use localStorage and sessionStorage — browser storage that works the same way but never leaves your device unless you interact with the site. We do not sell personal data.
Categories we use
1. Essential (always on)
- wic-consent-v1 — remembers your consent choice so we don't re-ask on every page. Kept until you clear browser data.
- Supabase auth session — set only if you sign in to the admin area. Contains your session token. Cleared on sign out.
2. Analytics (opt-in)
- wic-cid — a random visitor ID (no personal info) used to connect a page view to a later calculator interaction. Stored in localStorage.
- Server-side GA4 events — when analytics is enabled we send anonymized event data (path, event name, coarse device type) to Google Analytics 4 from our server, not from your browser. That means the tracker still works if you use an ad blocker, but only after you give consent here.
- Our own analytics database — same anonymized events, stored in a private Supabase table. Never shared or resold.
3. Marketing (opt-in, off by default)
We currently do not run marketing pixels. If we add promotional partners in the future, they will only run when this category is enabled.
What we don't collect
- Your calculator inputs (weight, activity, results) — they never leave your device.
- Your exact IP address — we store only a coarse country code from your CDN header.
- Any personal identifier unless you voluntarily sign in.
How long we keep analytics data
Aggregated analytics rows are retained for up to 24 months. You can withdraw consent at any time from the button above or the footer link.
Third parties
- Google Analytics 4 — receives server-side events when analytics is enabled. Google's own retention and privacy terms apply.
- Cloudflare — routes traffic and provides the country header used for aggregate maps.
